On this crazy wild ride that we call LIFE things do not always pan out as we think they will. A job might not inspire us as much as we thought it would, a relationship that we invested our heart and soul into may end or we might meet someone unexpectedly who challenges everything we thought love was, and is. Whatever big changes that are happening in your world, I believe that there is a higher and divine reason that they reached you in that place, and that moment.
I have started to think a lot about the ideas of shifts in energy and the law of attraction. I used to think that it was ‘hippie-dippie hoo ha’ but I have started to acknowledge the error of my ways. I have a dear friend who has given me some wise and monumental advice. She told me that we all have a ‘frequency’ that we put out. At first I was like ‘girl..I’m not a radio…how do you put out electric waves from a human body? But when I listened as she kept speaking, I realised she was talking about energy. The whole concept that we create and give out energy and we choose whether this is strong or weak…negative or positive. From that moment on I was like Mind=Blown!. I stepped back and looked around each room that I was in. I watched the people, I had conversations with others, I listened and I questioned. I self reflected. …I realised she was right. There are people that light up a room just by walking in with their presence. There are others that you can instantly feel a shift as they come towards you because of the dark or melancholy cloud they carry around..hovering over them like a bad smell; and when someone complains about something they put out a negative or heavy energy. The Law of Attraction, on the other hand is something I am actively trying to do more investigation on. I can definitely see how raising your vibe attracts people to be a part of your tribe so to speak and if you out out high frequencies and positive energy it can come back to you or meet you where you are at. Still an area I feel I am ‘doing the work’ in.
Which brings me to the point of this post…
If you aren’t happy–do SOMEthing about it! There are many types of people in this world but the two I want to focus on are what I call ‘avoiders’ and ‘seekers’ /’doers’.
Avoiders..are your typical push it away, sweep under the rug. ..bury their head in the sand and wait for the wind to pass before surfacing again kind of people. I know several of them and it drives me NUTS when people have zero follow through or complain about something but do NOTHING to fix it..Like DUDE!…Where is the logic in that? But I guess they are willing to not be living at their highest capacity. I might think it is ridiculous and want to help them…but you can only help someone who WANTS to be helped (ok off on a tangent…and I think that concept alone could be explored in another post).
Seekers or doers..They HUSTLE. They handle stuff like a BOSS and get Sh!t done!! As we learn from the Kate Winslet in ‘The Holiday’ only slightly paraphrased “You’re supposed to be the leading lady of your own life but sometimes we can act like the sidekick”. BOOM! Sage advice right there.
You see, the Seekers and doers are the leading ladies of their own lives. The authors of their stories. The architect their own actions, steering their own boats. They deliberately take the less travelled road because they aren’t scared of feeling a little discomfort and chasing something unknown… that has the POTENTIAL to be GREAT. This is the kind of person that I strive to be everyday. I’m not going to say I’m perfect at it, but I’m working on it. At least I’m taking the steps. If you’ve screwed up, apologise and change the status quo. If you are bored…leave the house and do something exciting. If you are sad, reach out to someone you trust and create those special authentic moments of sharing and formulate a plan to do something together.
Change equals growth, which then equals empowerment…can anyone say #livinmybestlife
And, if there is anything I have learnt it is that change is going to happen. We get older. We move houses. We change jobs. We want different things. We develop different needs. People can come into our lives and people can leave it. Sometimes by our initiative. Sometimes by their choice. All the while, time does not stand still. It is our most precious commodity and we use it differently depending on the season or chapter we are currently in. That in mind, Change is inevitable. And only YOU get to decide how YOU deal with it.
Don’t just stay stale and stagnant – do things that excite you and get you out of your comfort zone..If you don’t you could miss out on opportunities that could transform you and create happiness and fulfilment that we all crave deep down in our soul…a state of happiness and fulfilment that is deeper and greater than you expected. Sure this is a risk…but only the things that are the most WORTH it are!
It is important that we don’t shut ourselves away from experiences, for that isn’t really living. That is surviving, not thriving. And LIFE is for LIVING. For growth and outward impact. That is why God put each and every one of us here on earth.
I know this was super heavy, and very different to my usual upbeat travel tips and destination recommendations but as much as I think travel is important and is, in itself a lifestyle, I think it is equally important to discuss lifestyle choices and bring to light some of the things I have learnt about the WAY we CHOOSE to live our lives, in the hopes it can help someone.
So what are you waiting for…CREATE the CHANGE you WANT to see in your life and let me know how it goes!
Remember, it doesn’t always have to go well. Changes and people in your life can either be a lesson or a blessing…sometimes both. But isn’t it better to try, than to not?! ‘WHAT IFS’ are the most toxic and heart wrenching things to live with in my opinion (don’t believe me…just go a watch the movie ‘Letters to Juliet’ then we’ll talk ππ’). I have had my fair share of ‘WHAT IFS’ and if can be so bold as to say, these are the hardest things to heal in ourselves and push past…well maybe that’s just my experience…but I’ll tell you one thing…they definitely SUCK!!
I am going to leave you with this final thought…one of my all time FAVOURITE mantras that I say to myself on a daily basis which is basically a fancy way of saying ‘what do you have to lose’?
“But what if I fall, oh my darling..what if you fly”?
